He attended RHAM high school in his home town and later joined the University of Notre Dame where he began his college career.

Professional Career

In 2009, the  Arizona Diamondbacks selected him in the first round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft and he was invited in spring training in 2010. He made his debut as a pinch hitter for Justin Upton on April 18, 2012. On April 23 they played against the Phillies where he collected his first career MLB hit, a single. He played a total of 31 games that season batting .247 with two home runs and eight RBIs
A.J. Pollock hit .269 with 8 home runs and 38 RBIs in the course of 137 games in 2013. The second half of 2014 season he missed to play due to an injury. He was named a National League All-Star in 2015. The season ended batting .315 with 20 home runs and 76 RBIs. He led the National League in power-speed number.
On February 8, 2016, he signed a two-year contract extension worth $10.25 million. Afterward, towards the end of spring training, he broke his right elbow which made him miss most of the 2016 season. Due to a right groin strain, he was placed on the 10-day disabled list on May 15, 2017. He recorded a batting average of .266, 14 home runs, and 49 RBIs over the course of 112 games in 2017. He hit .257 with 21 home runs and 65 RBIs in 2018 and he was also 13 for 15 in stolen base opportunities.
