His current co-anchor, Emily Rau, came to the desk in January 2015.

This is the second anchors-away at KMOV this summer: Evening co-anchor Alissa Reitmeier left at the end of June, after only nine months of teaming with Steve Savard on the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts. Now, Courtney Bryant staffs the desk for those casts. Station general manager Mike Murphy said Scott Deiner, who became the station’s news director earlier this month (replacing Brian Thouvenot), is working to find permanent replacements for Hepkins and Reitmeier. One local television source said Hepkins, who could not be reached for comment, is heading to WBAL (Channel 11), an NBC affiliate owned by Hearst Television.

“We’re sorry to be losing him,” KMOV general manager Mike Murphy said. “But when all is said and done, you want people you like to be happy and we wish him the best of luck.”
