Carolyn Meadows (Carolyn D. Meadows), born in 1939 in east Cobb, is the new president of the National Rifle Association (NRA). She was elected to the position of president of the NRA in April 2019 . This was after former President Oliver North was forced out amid a feud with NRA chief Wayne LaPierre.

She was born in East Cobb to Roy N. Dodgen and Cleo Mabry Dodgen. Her father was primarily a farmer. In the 1980s, Dodgen Middle School was named after her father, as he had been a trustee at Mountain View School. Mabry Middle, another Cobb school, was named after her great-grandfather, Robert Mabry.

She also serves on the board of the American Conservative Union. She is the Chairman of the Stone Mountain Board of Directors.
She sat on the board of the Stone Mountain Memorial Association in 2015, when it blocked the construction of a monument to Martin Luther King Jr.
The chief executive officer of the group in 2015, proposed building a replica of the Liberty Bell atop Stone Mountain to honor King, who said in his iconic “I Have a Dream Speech”: “Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.”
“The park’s all-white governing board, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, decided” that “such a monument would clash with the legislated purpose of the state-owned park as a memorial to the Confederacy.”
Carolyn also serves on the Republicans Overseas Advisory Board and Council on National Policy Board and is a former three-term Georgia Republican National Committeewoman.
She joined the NRA’s board in 2003, eventually becoming second vice president, her most recent role before being elected president last month.
Speaking in an interview with the Narrietta Daily Journal, after her election, she claimed that one of her goals is to reclaim for the Republican Party a congressional district that she believes was lost in part because the Democrats nominated “a minority female.”
She also criticized Georgia Rep. Lucy McBath, an African-American mother who ran for office after her teenage son was killed for allegedly playing his music too loudly at a Florida gas station.
“It is wrong to say like McBath said, that the reason she won was because of her anti-gun stance. That didn’t have anything to do with it — it had to do with being a minority female,” Meadows told the Journal.
She also said that she accepted the job as NRA president to “save this country.
