Cassius Marcellus Clay Sr. was an American musician and painter. He was the father of three-time World Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali and his brother, Rahman Ali, and the grandfather of Laila Ali, Muhammad Ali’s daughter. He married Odessa Lee O’Grady in 1933.
His family and colleagues described him as “a handsome, mercurial, noisy, combative, failed-dreamer” and a “skirt-chasing dandy of a daddy”.His son Muhammad Ali said he was “the fanciest dancer in Louisville”.
