Chuck Connors Bio
Chuck Connors was an American actor, writer, professional basketball and baseball player. He was born with the name Kevin Joseph Aloysius Connors on April 10, 1921, in Brooklyn, New York, U.S. but died on November 10, 1992.
Together with his sister Gloria, two years his junior, Chuck was born to Marcella and Alban Francis “Allan” Connors, immigrants of Irish descent from Newfoundland and Labrador.
Chuck served as an altar boy at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Brooklyn, since he was raised as a Roman Catholic. He was a devoted fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers despite their losing record during the 1930s, and he hoped to join the team one day. Due to his skills on the field, Chuck Connors earned a scholarship to the Adelphi Academy, a preparatory school in Brooklyn, where he graduated in 1939.
He received additional offers for athletic scholarships from more than two dozen colleges and universities. From those offers, he chose to attend Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. While there, he played both basketball and baseball for the school, and it was there too where he changed his name. Chuck Connors abhorred his first name Kevin from a young age. Therefore, Chuck was adopted as his name because of yelling to the pitcher from his position on first base, “Chuck it to me, baby, chuck it to me!”
Nevertheless, Chuck left Seton Hall after two years to accept a contract to play professional baseball. Following America’s entrance into World War II, Chuck Connors joined the United States Army, where he served as a tank-warfare instructor at Fort Campbell and later at West Point in New York. The deceased actor was married three times. First to Elizabeth Jane Riddell Connors, Kamala Devi, and then to his third wife Faith Quabius.
Death
Many people may wonder ‘what did Chuck Connors die of?’ considering that he was a healthy bodied athlete. Chuck started smoking in 1940. He smoked three packs of Camel cigarettes a day until he quit in the mid-1970s, though he occasionally smoked afterward. The former actor died on November 10, 1992, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He died of pneumonia stemming from lung cancer at the age of 71. At the time of his death, his companion was Rose Mary Grumley. His burial took place in the San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Los Angeles.
Children
Elizabeth Jane Riddell Connors met Chuck at one of his baseball games. They got married on October 1, 1948, but divorced in 1961. The couple had four sons together, of which 3 passed away. Their deceased children are Michael, Jeffrey, and Kevin, who died in 2017, 2014 and 2005 respectively. The one who is still alive is named Stephen Connor and was born in 1953.

Mike Connors Chuck Connors
Mike Connors was the eldest son of the late American actor known as Chuck Connors and his wife, Elizabeth Jane Riddell Connors. Mike was born in 1950 but died in 2017 of leukemia at the age of 91, at a hospital in Tarzana, California. Like his father, Mike was an actor who starred as a brawling L.A. private eye on the long-running CBS crime drama, Mannix.
Chuck Connors’ son had been diagnosed only a week ago with Leukemia. He died surrounded by the love of family, including his wife Mary Lou of 68 years whom he met while they were students at UCLA. After Mannix ended in 1975, Mike Connors appeared in a number of telefilms before getting his third shot at starring in a TV series. He played 20-year bureau veteran, Ben Slater, in Today’s F.B.I., ABC’s update of the hit 1960s series.
Chuck Connor’s son reprised the Joe Mannix role for a 2003 Hollywood film, Nobody Knows Anything. His final screen credit was a 2007 episode of Two and a Half Men. Mike is survived by his wife Mary Lou, his daughter Dana, his son-in-law Mike Condon and his granddaughter Cooper Wills. He was preceded in death by his son Gunner, who passed away nine years ago.

Chuck Connors had a first son named Mike. His son married Mary Lou Willey and together they had a son, Matthew Gunner Ohanian, and a daughter, Dana Lou Connors. The two are Chuck’s grandchildren. In addition to that, Chuck’s 3rd son, Stephen, married Lindsey Richardson. Together they had one daughter called Brittany Connors. They divorced in 1988. In 2005, Stephen married Lynda Nead. Together they have two sons. Therefore, in total, Chuck Connor is survived by 5 grandchildren.
