Cristina García is a Cuban-born American journalist and novelist born in Havana, Cuba. García has once worked for Time Magazine as a researcher, reporter, and Miami bureau chief before turning to fiction writing. She is best known for her first novel Dreaming in Cuban (1992), which received critical acclaim and was a finalist for the National Book Award. Garcia has thereafter published several novels including The Agüero Sisters (1997) and Monkey Hunting (2003). She has also edited books of Cuban and other Latin American literature.
