Initially, she served as a weekend anchor and a reporter for KLBK TV for two years. In September 2006, she worked as a reporter and traffic anchor for KXAN-TV and earned experience of three years.

Moving forward with her career, McNamara began serving as a Multimedia journalist for WFTS-TV. She worked at WFTS-TV for three years and joined KSTP 5 Eyewitness News as a reporter.

She rose to fame after she became a part of KCTV5 News on April 2015. With her impressive reporting skills, she has already received an Emmy Award as well.

She co-anchors KCTV5 News at 5, 6, and 10 p.m. Ellen is an Emmy award winner and has more than a decade of experience in local news.
