James graduated from UMass Amherst where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Journalism in May 2017. James got his first job as a multimedia journalist with Action News Now in Chico, CA. There, he reported for a year and then joined Western Mass News in June 2018.

James Career

James traveled and reported on many different issues around the country including the protests in Ferguson and Baltimore, the Flint water crisis, the White House, as well as both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions in 2018.

As a college student, he interned with Western Mass News and WCVB-TV in Boston. James is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and also a member of the Valley Press Club scholarship committee, which he was a recipient of as a high school student.

James has a passion for human interest stories, giving a voice to the voiceless, and holding those in power accountable. His goal as a journalist is to earn the respect and trust of everyone he meets.
