Chaffetz was conceived in Los Gatos, California, and brought up in California, Arizona and Colorado with his more youthful sibling Alex. His dad, John A. Chaffetz (1935–2012), was a specialist, and his mom, Margaret “Peggy” A. Wood, was a Christian Scientist who later turned into an individual from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and maintained a photography business. Chaffetz went to secondary school in California just as Middle Park High School in Granby, Colorado, trailed by Brigham Young University on an athletic grant, and was the beginning placekicker on the Brigham Young University football crew in 1988 and 1989.
