Eager to get her feet wet as a full-time reporter, Jenny started working for WTVC in Chattanooga, TN as a multi-platform journalist. While in Tennessee, Jenny’s reports made national news when she tracked down a politician who had secretly voted to ban homosexuals from living in his county. In addition to general assignment reporting, Jenny also did in-depth investigative work and traveled through several states in order to put together an exclusive piece on a convicted killer’s past.

In 2005, Jenny started working for KXAN in Austin, TX. Within a year, she was promoted to political reporter and started anchoring a 2-hour newscast every Saturday and Sunday. In 2007, Jenny organized a two-week assignment to Afghanistan and brought back 10 unique pieces on Texans’ involvement in the war. During her time overseas, she tracked down the U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, met with local women making rugs in underground factories, followed Austin’s former police chief in his new role in Kabul, and met with soldiers training the Afghan military. Jenny was the first reporter at KXAN to start a blog and helped launch the station’s youtube channel with her vlogs as the first videos uploaded.

As the political reporter, Jenny has covered the presidential debates, members of Congress in Washington and spent several months in West Texas, after the government raid on a polygamous compound. Her work on the raid was recognized by several networks and she gave dozens of live reports for CNN and MSBNC, as well as wrote online stories for NBC’s Today Show.  During the 2009 legislative session, Jenny produced and hosted a political talk show that aired right before Meet the Press. She launched the show with an exclusive interview with the new Speaker of the Texas House and continued that trend with live interviews with all the major state leaders.

After her special reports on Afghanistan and her political reporting, LIN Corp. awarded Jenny with the highest honor bestowed upon its employees, the Circle of Excellence Award.

In order to further her international reporting experience, Jenny was accepted in 2010 as a Robert Bosch Fellow for Young American Leaders. The highly competitive fellowship program brings 20 professionals from the United States to Germany in order to gain an understanding of the language, government policies and business practices. Jenny spent five years in Germany, working at the German State Department in Berlin as well as  the international television and radio broadcasting company, Deutsche Welle. She is now back in Austin, TX working as a freelance reporter, blog author, and fiction writer.

Hoff has worked at KOIN since July 2014, beginning as anchor of the 4 p.m. news and reporter for the 11 p.m. news.During her time at KOIN, Hoff has also reported on consumer safety issues, and contributed to the station’s coverage of former governor John Kitzhaber’s resignation.

Before coming to Portland to join KOIN, Hoff worked in markets including Madison, Wisconsin; Lexington, Kentucky; and Rochester, Minnesota. She has won Eric Sevareid and Associated Press awards.
