Jo Ann Pflug began her acting career in 1966 after being cast in the science fiction film ‘ Cyborg 2087′ directed by Franklin Adreon. It was a very small role, however, and she didn’t have much to draw attention from the audience.

In the same year, Pflug made her television debut with a small role in the show’ The Beverly Hillbillies.’ Pflug was cast in the animated version of Marvel’s comic book series ‘ Fantastic Four’ in 1967.

The series portrayed four scientists who gain superpowers and fight to save the earth. Pflug appeared in the show as one of the lead characters,’ Invisible Girl / Susan Storm Richards.’ Three years later, in 1970, Pflug appeared on the silver screen in a prominent role. She portrayed’ Lt’s character.

Dish’ in the directorial black comedy war movie’ MASH’ by Robert Altman. The film featured in lead roles Donald Sutherland, Elliott Gould, and Tom Skerritt. It has won 13 awards including a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award.

The roles kept coming in the years that followed and she appeared on television in many supporting / guest roles. She appeared in the 1970s in the series ‘ Love, American Style,” Gemini Man’ (mini-series), and’ Quincy M.E.’ She then appeared as’ Lt’ in the comedy series ‘ Operation Petticoat.’ Katherine O’Hara, along with Melinda Naud, Jim Varney, and Richard Brestoff.

Pflug appeared in the action-adventure television series’ The Fall Guy’ as’ Samantha’ Big Jack’ Jack’ for 22 episodes between 1981 and 1982. She was chosen to be a cast member of the American soap opera ‘ Rituals’ in 1984. She made appearances on television shows such as’ The Return of Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer,” New Love, American Style,” The Colbys,’ and’ B.L.’ Stryker’s.

At the end of the 1980s, she took a break from work and returned in 1997 eight years later. She retired after just two films, though. Her last two silver screen appearances were in the American crime drama film ‘ Traveller’ and’ Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.’

JoAnn Pflug, who lives in Tequesta, is best known for her role as Lieutenant Dish in the ever popular motion picture “M*A*S*H” directed by Robert Altman. She also appeared in”Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” starring John Cusack and directed by Clint Eastwood as well as “Catlow” with Yul Brynner and Richard Crenna and “The Travelers” with Bill Paxton and Mark Wahlberg.

On television she is fondly remembered for her guest appearances on Love American Style, The Love Boat, Adam-12 and Quincy M.E. She became a regular on Operation Petticoat and The Fall Guy starring Lee Majors.

In a recent interview, Pflug proudly pointed out that she also worked with mega-star Burt Reynolds in his popular Palm Beach based series, B.L. Stryker.

With more than 30 years professional experience, JoAnn Pflug has also worked as a spokesperson on television and radio.

In the past, she has hosted a live televised talk show on which she interviewed a wide range of celebrity guests including then Governor/now Presidential candidate Jeb Bush, TV star Betty White, singers Johnny Mathis and Dionne Warwick and talk show host Larry King.

Most recently, her stories of Hollywood past and present were heard on Saturday mornings on Seaview Radio as host of The JoAnn Pflug Show, where once again she reminisced with such luminaries as Shirley MacLaine, Pat Boone, Dina Merrill and Mary Wilson.

Pflug is as comfortable behind the camera as she is in front.

She enjoys teaching up-and- coming- actors how to hone their craft in order to be successful in a highly competitive business. Having trained with Lee Strasberg at The Actors Studio in New York and Milton Kasselas and Nina Foch in Los Angeles, she more than has the credentials to back up her resume.

raisING funds with hit band Spred the Dub

Youth Speak Out International offers the area’s most at-risk kids valuable after-school media programs.

On Saturday, Sept. 19, attendees to the “Spread the Hope” fundraiser will have the chance to meet some of the children, and see some of their multi-media creations at Brewhouse Gallery from 4 to 7 p.m. in Lake Park.

Headlining the event is the hit band Spred the Dub, that will spread the “goodtime reggae” sounds from 5 to 7 p.m. Guests will also receive a raffle ticket with a chance to win fabulous prizes including thousands of dollars in art from international artist William King and others, as well as staycations, dining certificates and more.

Other activities include live art, henna tattoos and a custom bike show with Sprockets & Spokes. Rounding out the event will be light bites and samples from dozens of craft beers, specialty wines or teas and coffees.
