Jonathan Ketz Biography

Jonathan Ketz is an American Journalist. He joined the WQAD News Team on March 5, 2012. He was very excited to start his career here, and in August of 2015, he became the new morning co-anchor of Good Morning Quad Cities. Jonathan is  the third generation of reporters in his family to work at this station. His grandfather, Jim King, helped WQAD sign on the air back in 1963. He worked at the station until his death in January of 1999. His father, Kris Ketz, also began his broadcasting career here back in 1981. His father reported at WQAD before moving to Kansas City in the early 1980s.

Jonathan is the son of Kris Ketz a News anchor- reporter in KMBC 9 and  his step mother Dana wright a co-host of “Dana and Parks” weekday afternoons on 98.1 FM KMBZ He has three siblings. He is a grandchild of Jim King who helped WQAD sign on the air back in 1963 till his death in January 1999 and Gloria who still lives in Moline.

The person who gets left out in all this is his biological mother, Jan Lewis. She was a producer at WQAD back in the late 1970’s. In fact, his grandfather actually hired his mother to work at the station. Her mother is now out of the broadcast business and she works in the North Kansas City School District.

Jonathan and Bethany Duffy  were married September 2, 2017, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport, Iowa. The Rev. Anthony Herold officiated the ceremony. Parents of the couple are Michael and Linda Duffy of Davenport, Iowa, and Kris Ketz of Leawood, Kansas, and Jan Lewis of Kansas City, Missouri.

Bethany is a 2008 graduate of Assumption High School, Davenport, Iowa. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Saint Ambrose University in 2012. She is employed by Per Mar Security Services, Davenport.

Jonathan is a 2008 graduate of Oak Park High School, Kansas City, Missouri. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Journalism in 2011 from University of Missouri Columbia. He is employed by WQAD, Moline. The couple resides in Davenport.

Jonathan Ketz Baby

Jonathan and his wife Beth baby, Archer was born at 11:43pm on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019. According  to Jonathan, it was perfect timing because their baby arrived before the end of the of the Portland Trail Blazers and Oklahoma City Thunder Game – right before Damian Lillard sank a 37-foot buzzer beater to eliminate the Thunder from the NBA Playoffs. “I think he wanted to see the end of that game,” said Jonathan.

“Jonathan cheered so loud and startled the [expletive] out of our 10-minute old,” added  his wife, Beth. The couple’s son Archer came into the world weighing 7 pounds, 5 ounces and is 19.5 inches long. He was born just one day after his due date, which was the same day Good Morning Quad Cities ran a story about how to figure out how big your unborn baby is based on Big Macs. After some “research research,” Baby Archer is equivalent to 15.62 Big Macs – just in case you’re wondering.

Jonathan received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. Initially he was a reporter at KOMU-TV, the area’s NBC affiliate before joining WQAD.

Jonathan jumped at the opportunity to work at WQAD. His grandmother, Gloria, still lives in Moline. He remember coming to the Quad Cities as a kid during the summer for the John Deere Classic and River Bandits games at the ‘old JOD.’
