Kaye Forster is a freelance weather reporter who is known for her contribution to the Midlands Today weather hub by BBC. The station covers Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, South Kesteven in Lincolnshire, Rutland, and some northern parts of Northamptonshire. In 2018, she did provide the viewers with the weekday breakfast, lunchtime and weekend forecasts for the East Midlands, West Midlands and North West regions following budget cuts as part of the BBC’s Delivering Quality First in England program.

Forster got her role in Midlands Today when Anna Church went away on maternity leave in 2018. Prior to this, Forster was also a weather forecaster on BBC North West Tonight in 2016. In 2012 and 2013, she was a weather forecaster on BBC East Midlands Today. She was the regional weather forecaster in the East Midlands from the year 2011 to 2013.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Brunel University, Forster started her career at the Met Office training in 2001 and went on to work at ‘several RAF airfields’. Her responsibility involved a lot of ‘sky gazing’ and compiling weather reports for air traffic control. In 2007, she became a fully qualified weather forecaster after completing her training with the Met Office.

Forster joined BBC South East Today in 2008 where she became a regular weather presenter. She later left and became a freelancer weather forecaster. She began her work as a freelancer by covering for Diane Oxberry who was on a leave of absence and working for BBC North West Tonight.

From a young age, Forster was fascinated with the weather especially thunderstorms. This led her to study more about how the weather works

Kaye’s Hobbies

Forster is a huge football fan with herself even having played for Wycombe Wanderers, Exeter City, and Ebbsfleet United. She also likes traveling and exploring different cultures and places in the world. She enjoys running, hiking, and rock climbing and has completed several paragliding jumps and is a self-confessed adrenalin junkie. A weather enthusiast she is as she also loves the sea and snow leading to her taking part in surfing and skiing.
