La Mafia Biography | History

La Mafia is a four-time Grammy Award-winning musical group. Its roots, being based in the Northside neighborhood of Houston, Texas, it has charted a course as a Latin music band.

The band was founded in the year 1980 in Houston, TX by vocalist Oscar De La Rosa & producer/keyboardist/accordionist Armando Lichtenberger Jr. who both created an original style that survived various changes in the music industry. It is comprised of bassist Tim Ruiz, keyboardist and background vocalist David Delagarza, Eduardo Torres who served as the band’s drummer, Marion Aquilina on Guitar and Robbie Longoria on six bass percussion and congas.

The band has moreover won 2 Grammys as of 2007 & 2 Latin Grammys was nominated in 2009 for a Latin Grammy for the album Eternamente Romanticos. The band then started touring extensively in Mexico and Latin America beginning in the late 1980s. This was a way to seek the expansion of the musical skylines.
