Maddy Curley Biography
Maddy Curley (Full name- Madelyn Jane Curley) is an American actress and former gymnast who was born on December 3, 1981, Tallahassee, Florida, U.S. She competed for the North Carolina Tar Heels. She was academic All American for four years. Curley participated in the “Teach for America” program while teaching seventh grade language arts in a North Carolina middle school.
Curley became a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority while at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She played gymnast Mina Hoyt in the 2006 film Stick It, starring Missy Peregrym, Jeff Bridges, and Vanessa Lengies. Curley stars in the movie Chalk It Up.

Though originally from Florida, she later settled in Los Angeles, California. She has a sister named Jessica. Maddy Curley started gymnastics at age four. Seeing Ron Galimore’s Athletic Training Center for the first time, she told her mom she wanted to try it after watching the girls through the window.
She caught on quickly, competed in national elite, won Elite Nationals her senior year of high school, and continued on to earn a full scholarship to the University of North Carolina for gymnastics and competed all four years. Curley is now a busy Hollywood actress landing lead roles in several independent films as well as guest roles on television shows such as CSI New York and The Office.

Maddy Curley Crossfit
Maddy Curley became CrossFit certified on October 19th, 2008. Before that she coached gymnasts from age 2 to 65 for over ten years. Thus, she obtained her gymnastics certification soon after. Maddy’s own gymnastics career began at age four; her competitive career at age six.
Curley is a four time Level 10 National qualifier and won Elite Nationals in 1999. She earned a full gymnastics scholarship to compete at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill where she was also a four-time Academic All-American and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Upon graduation, Maddy made her film acting debut in Disney’s “Stick It,” an April 2006 release from Touchstone Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment.
Maddy Curley’s first go at a CrossFit competition was at SoCal’s 2010 Sectionals where she placed 2nd. The next year she went on to compete with her team at the 2011 CrossFit Games where they took 5th place! In 2012, Maddy placed 11th in the world in the Open and took another stab at competing as an individual, taking a laudable 7th place in SoCal’s Regional competition. She went team again in 2013, placing 3rd at Regionals and team in 2014 also placing 3rd.

Maddy Curley had an easy time when Auditioning for Cold Case as gymnastics played a huge part in landing her a role, just like in her first feature film, Stick It. “I definitely knew how to act like a gymnast, thus my audition was a breeze. I also think it played a part in helping book Cold Case. They were looking for a fit girl to play a military cadet, thus I continue to train regularly. I encourage everyone to have dreams and aspirations; I am a prime example that dreams, no matter how big or small, can come true with hard work and perseverance.”
