Maria Guerrero Biography

Maria Guerrero is an American journalist and presenter. Currently, she is a general-assignment reporter at NBC5 and Telemundo 39.

She was born in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Maria grew up in Lufkin, Eastern Texas. She was born to Juana Perez. She became a naturalized American citizen in 2004. Currently, her relationship status is single.

Maria Guerrero Early Career

It was while she was on a 6th-grade field trip to her local news station, KTRE-TV, that she knew she wanted to be a journalist. At the time, she was in 6th grade.

She attended Hudson Middle and High School. During her time there, she was a reporter in the school’s journalism programs.

Following her completion of high school, she was hired to work as a production assistant at local news stations in her hometown. She attended Louisiana State University. She graduated earning a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication with a concentration in Journalism and a double minor in Spanish and International Studies with a concentration in Latin America.

While still in college, she was a production assistant at WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Subsequently, she then went on to work her way up to on-air general assignment reporter for the station.

Following this, she moved to Madison, Wisconsin.  While she was there, she worked as a general assignment reporter and weekend anchor at WISC-TV. She is remembered for covering Super Bowl XLV at the Cowboys Stadium. During her coverage, she interviewed the parents of Packers’ Quarterback Aaron Rodgers at the Stock Yards Station. In the interview, she talked to Ed and Darla Rodgers who had gone to attend a cattle drive that was canceled. You can view the video below:

She then went on to work as a general assignment reporter and weekend morning anchor at KOB-TV. It was here that her love for green chiles was born.

Following this, she made her way to the Pacific Northwest and KIRO-TV in Seattle, Washington. During her time here she worked as a general-assignment reporter, then weekend morning anchor.

In February of 2017, she joined NBC5 as a general assignment reporter. She was elated to be back in her home state and join the stellar news organization that is NBC5.

Maria Guerrero Telemundo 39

Following her joining of NBC5, she got the chance to move into Spanish-language news by contributing reports to NBC’s sister station, Telemundo 39.
