Max Diekneite Biography
Max Diekneite is an American anchor, sports and political reporter working for KCCI 8 since 2017. He also worked as an anchor/reporter at KOMU-TV, the NBC affiliate in mid-Missouri. Diekneite said he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to report on the Iowa caucuses, and looks forward to covering the 2020 election.
Max Diekneite Family
Diekneite is the younger of two brothers, as a midwest native has a passion for telling the stories of hard-working Americans in the heartland. He grew up in the flyover state of Missouri, and his parents still live in the house where he was raised in St. Louis. He grew up watching the Redbirds take home two World Series titles, all the while amassing an impressive collection of memorabilia. He grew up playing baseball but ended up playing football in high school. Diekneite lost more than 70 pounds prior to his freshman year of college and is an avid swimmer.

Diekneite is a proud graduate of the Missouri School of Journalism, where he earned a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Radio/T.V. Journalism. Diekneite also worked part-time with Fox 2’s award-winning investigative team in St. Louis.
Max Diekneite Career
Diekneite began his career in broadcast as a sports reporter, before developing a passion for political reporting while working in Jefferson City, MO, the state’s capital. It was that passion, in part, that drew him to Iowa. Diekneite said he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to report on the Iowa caucuses, and looks forward to covering the 2020 election.
Diekneite said his greatest accomplishment thus far, outside of making his family proud, is the opportunity he’s earned with KCCI.
