Audrina Patridge and Mischa Barton look glam as they’re spotted filming The Hills at a nightclub in LA
As of September however, the mother-of-one was single again.
Mischa is a newcomer to the show after starring on teen drama The O.C. from 2003 to 2007.
The show was initially developed as a spin-off to Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, and followed Lauren Conrad as she battled professional and personal relationships in Los Angeles post-college.
The Hills: New Beginnings arrives June 24 on MTV.

WHY MISCHA BARTON FEELS LIKE SHE WAS ON THE ORIGINAL HILLS
The Hills was inspired by the smash hit The O.C. — and Mischa Barton now has a special connection to both small-screen successes. And even though the actress (who played Marissa Cooper on the FOX program) had never appeared on the original MTV program, the New Beginnings addition feels “in a weird way” that she has already shared the camera with the iconic Hollywood group.
“I was on The Hills, even though I’d never seen it,” Mischa reveals in a wide-ranging Vogue interview (which also features other female stars of the upcoming reboot). “My whole life was publicized in a fake way, and everything about me was made up while I was on The O.C., which ran simultaneously with The Hills.”
“[The Hills] was the reality version of The O.C., and everyone was so obsessed with it,” she reflects. “I remember Nicole Richie was really into them, and she would pull me over into a parking lot and be like, ‘They’re filming The Hills in there — we have to go see!’ They were the OG reality TV stars.”
Meanwhile, one of Mischa’s brand-new cast mates has a slightly different assessment.
“Mischa’s actually the OG Hills,” Stephanie Pratt states to the mag, adding that it’s “the most random thing ever” because of The O.C/Hills correlation.

I just remembered… Mischa Barton’s short-lived teen drama series, The Beautiful Life.
Three years after Mischa Barton’s stint as troubled Marissa Cooper on The OC ended, her acting career had hit a bit of a roadblock.
After a handful of small roles in films like St Trinians, You and I and 2008’s Assassination of a High School President, she never quite managed to emulate the mainstream success she’d enjoyed a few years prior.
In 2009, she was cast as the lead on the CW’s teen series The Beautiful Life, which promised drama, scandal and high fashion antics of New York’s elite. Incidentally, it was also directed by Ashton Kutcher.
Barton played supermodel Sonja Stone who returns to New York after ‘mysteriously disappearing’ to give birth to her secret daughter. But her top model influence is waning with newer and younger models entering ‘the scene’.
For all intents and purposes, it should have been the perfect teen binge show, yet the series utterly and completely bombed. And this was a travesty.
The viewership was dismal and the reviews even worse.
“Even the well-chronicled off-screen misadventures of star Mischa Barton don’t make ‘TBL’ any more interesting,” quipped Daily News.
“‘TBL’ is little more than a title in search of an actual show — less TV to talk about, per the CW’s ad campaign, than TV to groan at,” offered Variety.
USA Today’s review was a little more diplomatic: “Boring is never pretty. On the not-precisely-scintillating plus side, The Beautiful Life isn’t the worst new show of the season,” they wrote.
Although the show was pulled after just two episodes, the first five of a rumoured six produced episodes were later uploaded on YouTube and you must binge them right now.
Think of it as Gossip Girl mixed with America’s Next Top Model. That’s surely worth the 3.5 hour time commitment to see Barton at her angsty, Marissa Cooper-esque best. The #throwback fashion is pretty great too – ruffles, bandage dresses and skinny jeans feature very prominently.
Familiar faces like Nico Tortorella (who currently plays Josh on Younger), Aquamarine’s Sara Paxton and even Aussie supermodel Elle Macpherson appear ion the show.
If you find yourself hankering for a trashy television fix, look no further than The Beautiful Life, the TV series that never was.
Yes, the acting might be a bit stiff, the characters snarky and the storylines predictable, but it makes for some fantastically fluffy, nostalgic viewing that will have you craving a whole season.
