Olessa Stepanova Biography
Olessa Stepanova is the traffic reporter for NewsCenter 5’s EyeOpener newscasts. Stepanova works with anchors Antoinette Antonio and Randy Price and meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon weekday mornings on Boston’s most-watched early morning news program.
Olessa came to Boston from the CBS affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut, WFSB-TV. She served as the morning traffic reporter on WFSB’s Eyewitness News this Morning for three years. She was also a fill-in anchor and fill-in co-host for Better Connecticut, a local show that focused on home, family and other lifestyle topics.

She was born on 24 January 1982 in the Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Her family moved to the USA when she was just 8 years old. She had problems settling in at a new place but she adjusted pretty well. In 1998 she moved again this time from Queens to Long Island. As of 2019, she 37 years old.

She went to Plainview-Old Bethpage J.F.K secondary school. However, she completed her graduation in 2002 with a very good passing score. However, she got a scholarship to go to Long Island University to complete her higher studies. She took the opportunity and got a degree in Broadcast Journalism. Also, she graduated with unique excellence and got the respect of an individual from the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
Olessa Stepanova Career
She started her broadcasting profession as a traffic reporter for News12 Traffic and Weather, a cable-exclusive service serving seven regions of the New York tri-state area. From there, she moved to News12 Long Island, where Stepanova covered traffic in the studio and also from high above Long Island in a helicopter.
Similarly, she has also worked for Time Warner Cable’s 24-hour news channel in New York, NY1, New Jersey and Connecticut, reporting traffic for New York.
Also, she went Boston from the CBS affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut, WFSB-TV. She has served as a morning traffic reporter on WFSB’s Eyewitness ‘News this Morning’ for three years.
