She is best known for her voice roles as Vanessa Doofenshmirtz in Phineas and Ferb and Marceline the Vampire in the Queen in Adventure Time. In 2003, Olson also played the character of Joanna in the film Love Actually and its 2017 short sequel Red Nose Day Actually.

She is also a writer, who has contributed a section to the best-seller Adventure Time Encyclopedia and an upcoming book for the Cartoon Network.
