Peter Johnson Biography

Peter Johnson an American ice hockey coach and scout was born on May 31, 1959, in Madison, Wisconsin. He is currently the Head Coach of the U16 Girls’ team at Shattuck St. Mary’s in Faribault, MN. His father is Hall of Fame coach Bob Johnson and his brother is Wisconsin Badgers women’s ice hockey coach Mark Johnson. His sisters Sandi Johnson McConnell is a registered nurse in Colorado Springs and Julie Johnson is a teacher in San Diego. Bob Johnson, his father, died of brain cancer at the age of 60 years. He is the son of Martha Johnson.

Peter Johnson Career

Peter played on the men’s ice hockey team at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was also a member of the 1981 National Championship team. Johnson also played on the United States men’s national ice hockey team at the 1982 World Ice Hockey Championships in Helsinki.

In 1984, he started coaching the Bowling Green Falcons men’s ice hockey team where he was a member of the National Championship team in the same year. Johnson was an assistant coach between 1985 and 1988 of the Cornell Big Red men’s ice hockey team. In 1988 Peter joined the Wisconsin Badgers men’s ice hockey team as an assistant coach. He was also a member of the 1990 National Championship team.

Johnson also served as a scout for the Toronto Maple Leafs for nine years. He served as an assistant coach with the Wisconsin Badgers women’s ice hockey team in 2009 and 2010 season.
