Ray Romano Biography
Ray Romano is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and screenwriter. His role on the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond made him famous and earned him an Emmy Award, and as the voice of Manny in the Ice Age film series. He made and acted as starring in the TNT comedy-drama Men of a Certain Age (2009–11).
From 2012 to 2015, Romano had a recurring role as Hank Rizzoli, a love interest of Sarah Braverman in Parenthood, and co-starred in the romantic comedy The Big Sick (2017). Romano portrays as Rick More weather in the comedy-drama series Get Shorty.
His early comedy career started when he competed in the Johnnie Walker Comedy Search in 1989 directed by Saturday Night Live short film producer Neal Marshad and appeared on The Comedy Channel.
Romano’s career included many outlets, such as Comedy Central, where he had been a recurring guest voice on the show Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist. He also was a contestant on Star Search in the stand-up comedy category.
Ray RomanoHe then appeared on Late Show with David Letterman doing his stand up routine which formed his ties with CBS. Shortly thereafter, he became the star of his own show, Everybody Loves Raymond on CBS.
Romano was the subject of the documentary film 95 Miles to Go. The film documents Romano’s road-trip for a series of rides across the south of the United States. The film was released in theaters on April 7, 2010, by ThinkFilm.
Romano returned to television with a new dramedy for TNT in 2008, Men of a Certain Age, which he co-created with former Everybody Loves Raymond writer, Mike Royce. It co-starred Scott Bakula and Andre Braugher.
Romano made an appearance in the seventh season of NBC show The Office as Merv Bronte, a nervous job applicant interviewing for the job left vacant by Michael Scott. Romano made an appearance in the third-season premiere of ABC sitcom The Middle as Nicky, a friend of Mike, who ruined his and Frankie’s honeymoon.

He was born as Raymond Albert Romano in Queens, New York to Lucie, a piano teacher, and Albert Romano (November 7, 1925 – March 11, 2010), a real estate agent and engineer. Having brought up in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens he is of Italian descent. His older brother, Richard (born in 1956) is a sergeant with the NYPD, and a younger brother, Robert, a second-grade teacher in New York City.

Romano attended elementary and middle school at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Forest Hills. After transferring from Archbishop Molloy High School, Romano graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1975. Then Romano briefly attended Queens College, in Flushing, New York, where he studied accounting.

Romano married his wife, Anna Scarpulla, in 1987. They met while working at a bank together. In February 2012, Romano revealed that his wife Anna had successfully battled stage one breast cancer in 2010. They have four children.

Comedian and Emmy have a new residence in Venice, they paid $2.1 million for the single-level home. Built-in 1956, the house has three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms spread across more than 1,800 square feet of living space.
It last sold in March for $1.33 million and flipped back to the market in July with a $1.99 million asking price. Interior features include hardwood floors, new windows, updated bathrooms, and a remodeled kitchen with a large center island and brand new appliances.
The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and opens to a sunny wooden side deck. The home sits on a roughly 6,050-square-foot lot with a grassy backyard and an attached two-car garage. Romano also owns a Mediterranean-style mansion in Encino and a beachfront property in Malibu for which he paid $8.5 million in 2004.

Ray Romano knew there was something special about his grumpy “Parenthood” character Hank and the way he related to his ex-girlfriend’s teenage nephew Max. As Romano filmed Hank’s goodbye scene with Lauren Graham last season it occurred to him to go off script and hand Sarah an old camera to give to Max.
Although Hank and Max had only had a couple of scenes together, the gesture was intended as a sweet note. Romano wanted to remind viewers that as flawed as Hank is, he has a good heart.
But it did more than that. It opened the door for Hank’s return in the fifth season and the crafting of a moving and rewarding friendship between two socially awkward pals who love photography.
When the NBC family drama returns to the line-up the similarities between a boy who has Asperger syndrome and his hard-to-read mentor are front and center in that classic “Parenthood” emotional way.

HBO announced the cancellation of 1970’s rock drama “Vinyl” after just one season, it was scheduled to return for a second season. Despite high expectations for the project, the show disappointed in the ratings.
It was expensive to produce, and canceling the show will allow its executives to work on other projects. In April, show-runner Terence Winter left the show over creative differences.

Romano hit the big screen with a star turn in The Big Sick. Here, the actor talks hitting it big, romancing his wife, and explaining on-screen threesomes, he started with his neighborhood friends as sketch comedy show for the neighborhood.
They called themselves No Talent Incorporated and they put on no-talent shows. Since then, he has really branched out with his roles in things like Vinyl and Men Of A Certain Age.
