Robin Weigert Biography
Robin Weigert is an American television and film actress best known for her role as Calamity Jane in the HBO series Deadwood from 2004-06. Her role in the series garnered her a nomination for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Before she began acting, she graduated from Brandeis University in 1991 and moved up to New York University, earning a Master of Fine Arts degree in the Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts. After this, she became a stage actress based in New York City.

Robin Weigert was born on the 7th of July 1969 in Washington DC in the United States to Dione Laufman and Wolfgang Oscar Weigert, a psychiatrist. Her family is of the Jewish religion.
Robin Weigert Career
Before acting, she worked as a waitress, an experience so bad that she referred to herself as the worst Waitress. Along with this, she has also worked as a receptionist. She was inspired in her works by her grandfather, a retired surgeon, and author.
Robin started off her career as a stage actress soon after she completed her studies. She spent over 10 years acting on stage productions until she moved to Los Angeles marking her transition to film and Television productions. In the time she was playing in theatre, she took part in productions both on and off Broadway and even got nominations for Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel awards for her work in Richard Nelson’s Madame Melville. Her best-known role is as an unkempt, cantankerous and foul-mouthed drunkard named Calamity Jane in the HBO series Deadwood which aired from 2004-06. The role was a major breakthrough for her since it was soon followed by a nomination for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2004 and a win at the Hollywood Life magazine’s “Breakthrough of the Year” award.
She also played in the American crime tragedy TV series Sons of Anarchy which aired from 2008 to 2014. There was an announcement in 2010 that stated that she would join the cast of the show as the motorcycle club’s lawyer. She played a recurring role in 5 episodes of the American Police procedural drama Chicago P.D. In 2012, she narrated the audiobook, The Whip authored by Karen Kondazian. In 2017, she played as Dr. Amanda Reisman in another HBO series Big Little Lies in 2017 alongside Alexander Skarsgård and Nicole Kidman.
