With New Edition, he released popular albums like’ All for Love,” Under the Blue Moon’ and’ Heart Break,’ while he contributed to the hit studio albums ‘ Poison’ and’ Hootie Mack’ with Bell Biv DeVoe.
In addition to recording and performing with these bands, he also owns a real estate company in Atlanta, Georgia. Born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, the talented singer has been married to the multi-platinum R&B group Blaque’s Shamari Fears since 2006. In the early 1980s, Ronnie DeVoe initially joined the New Edition R&B / pop group. In 1984, he and his band released their self-titled debut album featuring the successful track “Cool It Now.” The album acquired 2 Platinum status. The band then came up with an album called’ All for Love,’ which was certified Platinum by Recording Industry Association of America RIAA. DeVoe and his bandmates released their fourth studio album’ Under the Blue Moon’ in 1986, which eventually went gold. Two years later, they released the album ‘ Heart Break ‘ featuring tracks like “If It Isn’t Love,” “You’re Not My Kind of Girl” and “Can You Stand The Rain.”
After the breakup of New Edition in 1990, Ronnie DeVoe formed another R&B group called Bell Biv DeVoe along with Michael Bivins and Ricky Bell of New Edition. Their debut album ‘ Poison’ spawned five hit singles including’ Poison’ and’ B.B.D.’ and sold over five million copies. The group released their follow-up album ‘ Hootie Mack’ in 1993.
Three years later, New Edition’s singer and original members released their album ‘ Home Again ‘ which spawned the hits “Hit Me Off” and “I’m Still in Love with You.” While the album peaked in the USA and Canada at # 1, the singles charted in the USA at # 3 and # 7 respectively.
DeVoe and his band Bell Biv DeVoe came up with their third studio album ‘ BBD’ in 2001. They released’ Three Stripes’ after this. In 2018, he started to feature alongside his wife Shamari in the reality TV series ‘ The Real Housewives of Atlanta.’ In December that year, the couple released a song called “Love Comes Through.”
DeVoe still records with both his groups and also co-owns DeVoe Broker Associates, a real estate company based in Atlanta, Georgia.
