Shannon Ryan joined FOX 7 as a multimedia journalist in April 2019.
Prior to joining FOX 7, Shannon worked as a multimedia journalist, anchor and producer for WDVM-TV in Maryland. Shannon was the stations first multimedia journalist at the Northern Virginia bureau — helping launch the satellite office in the D.C. suburbs.
Shannon attended Penn State University.
She graduated with dual majors in broadcast journalism and political science.
As a student, Shannon interned at CBS News’ Washington D.C. bureau during the 2016 presidential elections. She interned at FOX 29 in Philadelphia, as the city hosted the DNC. She also interned at WNYT in Albany. She completed numerous media internships with Penn State athletics. She worked as a student sideline reporter for the Big Ten Network.
Through a university partnership, Shannon was able to work as a print and photojournalist for the Associated Press. Her work for the wire, covering the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials in North Carolina, and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics was published by various outlets, including The New York Times, Washington Post, ESPN and ABC News. She also anchored and produced a student special on the games. Through a different university partnership with the Catholic New Service, Shannon was able to cover the 2015 Papal visits to Philadelphia and Washington D.C.
As a member of Penn State’s international reporting program, Shannon traveled to Greece. Shannon worked as a multimedia journalist in Athens and Lesbos producing a piece on human smuggling.
Shannon is from Saratoga County, NY. She loves yoga, spicy food and all things outdoors. Most importantly, she would love to tell your story!
