Sophie Perry honors mom Minnie after Luke Perry’s death

Sophie Perry is grateful for her mom’s love and support after her dad Luke Perry’s sudden death.
“You all know my dad is a super star, but I just want to share for a moment that I got really f–king lucky in the parental department because this is my mom,” she captioned an Instagram post on Friday. “Minnie. Who also happens to be my best friend. Wow, how cliche, I know. And she is the rock for everybody grieving in this family right now. She’s the toughest and sweetest and most amazing woman I or anyone else has ever met. How did I get so lucky to have two icons for parents? I love you mom and I could not get through this absolute sh-t situation without you. None of us could.”
Sophie, 18, previously took to Instagram on Tuesday to reflect on losing her dad, saying: “A lot has happened in this past week for me. Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, And in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support.”
The teenager, originally from Dowagiac, Michigan, had been on a trip to Africa with the nonprofit organization One World Center when Luke, 52, had a massive stroke. He was hospitalized for three days before he passed.
“He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends,” his rep told Page Six in a statement at the time. “The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”
Her brother Jack, 21, also addressed their loss on social media this week, saying: “He was a lot of things to a lot of people. To me, he was always Dad. He loved and supported me in everything, and inspired me to be the best that I could possibly be. I’ve learned so much from you, and my heart is broken thinking about everything you won’t be here for. I’ll miss you every day that I walk this earth. I’ll do whatever I can to carry on your legacy and make you proud. I love you Dad.”
