Steve Soliz Biography
Steve Soliz is an experienced journalist with a background in radio and television. He’s currently a television news anchor/reporter at KRGV-TV in the Rio Grande Valley. Steve Soliz is an evening anchor/reporter at KOB4. He joined our news team in June 2017.
Steve has been working full-time as a journalist and broadcast professional since 2005. He came to New Mexico to work with old friends, including morning anchor Colton Shone. This is the third time the pair has worked together.
Steve Soliz Career
Steve’s broadcasting career began in radio. His career included stints at heritage news/talk radio stations in San Antonio, Dallas, and Phoenix. Steve’s stories have aired on ABC News Radio, CBS News Radio, Fox News Radio, and CNN Radio. Steve dived into television by joining the behind-the-scenes team at KPHO-TV before moving in front of the camera at KRGV-TV.
Steve has covered a plethora of stories, including the death of 19 firefighters at Yarnell Hill, Arizona’s controversial SB 1070, 2014’s influx of unaccompanied minors making their way across the border, and the fourth NBA title won by Steve’s favorite team, the San Antonio Spurs.

He serves on the national boards for Special Olympics New Mexico and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. He’s also the Vice President of New Mexico’s chapter of NAHJ. Additionally, Steve is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Rocky Mountain chapter.
Steve Soliz KPHO-TV
Steve made the jump to television in 2011 when he joined KPHO-TV in Phoenix. He worked behind the scenes helping plan the station’s news coverage.
He helped coordinate coverage for major stories, like the Jodi Arias trial and the death of 19 firefighters at Yarnell Hill. While working in television, Steve continued his work on the radio as a news anchor/host at KTAR-FM. He double-dipped in radio and television before deciding to move in front of the camera
