Ty Warner is an American billionaire toy manufacturer, businessman, and former actor who was born on September 3, 1944, Chicago, Illinois, U.S.. He is the CEO, sole owner and founder of Ty Inc. which manufactures and distributes stuffed toys, including Beanie Babies and other lines.

Warner is also a property owner, notably Four Seasons Hotel New York, which he bought with profits earned selling Beanie Babies during a fad in the late 1990s.

Patricia Roche and Faith McGowan, two of Warner’s long-term girlfriends, were closely involved in the operations of Ty, Inc. during the development and success of Beanie Babies. Warner donated $3 million for the creation of Ty Warner Park in Westmont, Illinois. It is a large park with plenty of open space with good walking paths around the park. Snacks are available during ball games in the warmer months. Slide are for winter sledding.

Ty Warner Mansion

Warner is the owner of The Ty Warner Mansion, dubbed the ultimate hideaway at Latin America’s most lauded resort. It is a Rosewood Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico. The exclusive beachfront mansion is poised directly on the water’s edge with panoramic views over the Sea of Cortez.

Encompassing 28,000 square feet (2,600 square meters) of private oceanfront property, complete with infinity pool, swim-up bar, and personal spa. The exceptionally private sanctuary was created by the renowned architect Jorge Torres with interiors by Robert Couturier.

With the hefty price tag of $135,000 a night, amenities include two master suites, chauffeured car service, and two on-call butlers, it’s the perfect escape for someone with exceptionally deep pockets. Ty Warner Sea Center

He also donated $1.5 million for the creation of the Ty Warner Sea Center in Santa Barbara, California. Located on Stearn’s Wharf overlooking the ocean, this center features a 1,500-gallon simulated tide pool, touch tanks and marine wildlife exhibits showcasing the ocean life right off the coast of Santa Barbara.

Kids will get to touch sea urchins, starfish and even sharks in touch tanks, or feed stingrays and sharks during feeding sessions. The center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The sea center has since been renamed Santa Barbara Sea Center.

After a long sabbatical in Italy in 1986, Warner mortgaged his house and invested his life savings into founding Ty Inc. Ty Inc. launched Beanie Babies in 1993, which became an international craze. Ty Inc. was profiting $700 million in one year at the height of the Beanie Babies’ popularity. Ty Inc. also manufactures and distributes Beanie Baby 2.0s, Ty Girlz, Monstaz, Beanie Boos, Beanie Ballz, Pluffies, LI’L Ones and other plush toys.

His Las Ventanas al Paraiso resort in Mexico rents its Ty Warner Mansion for $35,000 a night. Since 2005, Warner has donated $100 million in cash and toys to the Children’s Hunger Fund. Forbes magazine ranked Warner at 316 in their top 400 richest Americans in 2018. In 2019, he was ranked 877th by Forbes in the world’s richest list.
