Wisdom Martin Family
When he was a kid, Wisdom used to sit in front of the TV after school and watch the evening news with Walter Kronkite, Peter Jennings and Max Robinson. Then on Sundays, he would watch the NFL pregame shows. That’s when he knew that he wanted to be a TV newsman.
So, when Martin was at Jackson State University, he majored in broadcast journalism. As a sophomore, he got his first job in TV news because of his friend working at the ABC station in Jackson told him about an entry-level job. Martin was so excited to get paid to run the teleprompter on the weekends at WAPT news.
From there he learned how to shoot video, edit and do sports reports for the weekend shows before he graduated. Wisdom still remembers his first big news assignment in Jackson, covering the trial of a man convicted of killing civil rights leader Medgar Evers.
That job behind the scenes opened the door for him to jump in front of the camera. Martin has had the opportunity to cover news and sports in KSEE in Fresno, California; WRAL in Raleigh, North Carolina (Go Tar Heels!), CNN in Atlanta, Georgia; and WKRN in Nashville Tennessee.
