Chris Yates Biography

Chris Yates graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 2008 with a degree in meteorology.  Shortly after graduation, he briefly worked with the Twistex Tornado research team and assisted in deploying probes and instruments in front of tornadoes.

Chris has been married to his wonderful wife Krista since 2008.  In January of 2011, Krista gave birth to their first daughter Kaelyn.  In September 2014, Krista and Chris welcomed Delaney, their second daughter to the family.

Chris enjoys spending time with his family along with playing and watching sports.  His favorite football team is the Denver Broncos and his favorite baseball team is the Colorado Rockies (Sorry Bears/Packers/Rams/Colts fans).

Chris joins WMBD/WYZZ from KGWN in Cheyenne, WY.  In 2011, he was awarded the CBM Certification from the American Meteorological Society.

Chris would later be awarded 1^st Place for “Weatherperson of the Year” from the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters in June 2010, 2011, and again in 2012.

Not only does Chris like sports – he likes to sing!  In fact, Chris was the lead singer of a local cover band back in Wyoming.  So keep an eye out for him at karaoke night!
