Joan Lunden is an American journalist, author, and TV host. She was born on September 19th, 1950 in Fair Oaks, California, USA.

She is the daughter of Gladyce Lorraine and Dr. Erle Murray Blunden. She attended California State University, Sacramento where she earned a degree in Liberal Arts. She then attended Universidad de Las Americas in Mexico City to study Spanish and anthropology.

She was a visiting lecturer teaching broadcast journalism at Montclair State College in New Jersey. She got her first job as an anchor at KCRA TV where she hosted KCRA TV specials and also produced the noon news broadcast. She is married to Michael A. Krauss in 1978 but they divorced in 1992. She had 3 daughters from this marriage.

In 2000 in April, she got married to Jeff Konigsberg. She has four children from this marriage. She is a spokeswoman for surrogacy. She confessed to having breast cancer on Good Morning America. This confession was on June 24th, 2014.

In 1975, Lunden joined New York’s WABC-TV Eyewitness News, at which time her name was changed to abstain from being designated “Bungle”. After a year she moved toward becoming co-anchor at the end of the weekly reports.

Lunden joined GMA in the fall of 1976 as an element news/purchaser columnist and later moved toward becoming fill-in co-have when previous co-have Sandy Hill left to chip away at ABC’s inclusion of the 1976 Winter Olympics.
