When Emily Krueger walked onto the stage at the North Shore Music Theater to claim a gift basket she won during intermission, she never thought she’d be walking off engaged.“I think every girl thinks of the Hollywood romantic movie, but when it’s happening, it’s like ‘Oh my God,’” Krueger said. “I was so in shock.”
Her new fiancee, Jason Malaquias, began planning the proposal in June and during the intermission of “A Christmas Carol,” his plan was set into motion.Once on stage, Malaquias gave a short speech and got down on one knee, telling Krueger, “I would love for you to continue that love story and marry me.”The night was also the first time the couple’s families met. Krueger said she was so focused on the meetup that she missed some engagement clues.
“In hindsight, there are so many tip-offs that I should have been aware of, but I was nervous just in general about our families meeting,” she said.It was an epic proposal that the couple, and their families, will never forget.“I never believed in love at first sight,” Malaquias said, “but now I do.”

Kerri Corrado is joining WHDH 7 News in Boston, Massachusetts as a reporter, New England One has confirmed.Kerri joins WHDH from WJAR NBC 10 in Providence, Rhode Island where she has been a multi-media journalist for the weekday morning news since December 2014.
Prior to joining WJAR, Kerri worked at Sinclair sister-station WJAC-TV NBC 6 in Johnstown, PA where she was a reporter. Previously, Kerri was a production assistant at NBC owned station WCAU-TV NBC 10 in Philadelphia, PA.During college, Kerri interned at several television stations including WCAU, WTXF-TV FOX 29 and WPVI-TV ABC 6 all in Philadephia. She was also the host and executive producer for “Sportsline” at her college TV station La Salle TV.
A native of West Deptford, New Jersey, Kerri is a 2012 graduate of La Salle University where she majored in communication and media studies.
Kerri Corrado Fire
A firefighter and a police officer rushed into a burning Malden home to rescue three people who were sleeping as the blaze began to grow early Thursday morning. Crews responding to a report of a house fire on Harvard Street around 2 a.m. found heavy flames shooting from the roof.A neighbor told 7News that he saw a glow from his home, first thought someone was grilling, but quickly called 911 when he realized that a blaze had broken out.“I looked out the side window and I saw this orangish glow. I thought maybe somebody was having a barbeque late at night,” he said. “I’m really glad that everyone ended up making it out OK. My biggest fear was that I didn’t call quick enough.”
The home sustained heavy fire and smoke damage, while the siding was melted off of a neighboring home. Eight people were displaced by the blaze, according to the Red Cross. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
