Mychaela Bruner is the morning anchor and reporter for WPSD Local 6 Today from 4:30 to 7:00 a.m. Before joining WPSD-TV, Mychaela worked as an anchor and reporter for nearly four years at KOMU-TV, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, MO. During those four years, Mychaela learned to write, edit and shoot her own stories.

When she wasn’t reporting on breaking news and self-producing her own live shots, she co-anchored and helped produce the weekday evening newscasts. While working at KOMU-TV, the station earned a Service to America Community Award for raising money to bring veterans to Washington D.C.

Passionate about animals, Mychaela started a segment at WPSD-TV called, “Forever Home Fridays.” It has been a HUGE success and hundreds of animals have been adopted.

Storytelling is Mychaela’s passion and she loves meeting new people. The people in this community mean a great deal to her. If you see her out and about, be sure to say ‘Hi!’

In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. Mychaela travels home to Mascoutah, IL often to spend time with loved ones.

In June of 2013, Mychaela joined the WPSD Local 6 team as the weekend morning anchor and reporter. After a year and a half at WPSD-TV, she was promoted to Local 6’s morning anchor and reporter. Mychaela is an award-winning journalist. She has won awards for best solo-journalist, as well as best writing and feature reporting. In 2013, Mychaela had the opportunity to continue her education at the Poynter Institute, learning from some of the best in the business and furthering her knowledge about reporting and anchoring. During her time at WPSD-TV, she’s reported on several major stories to impact our area: Keith Griffith’s murder trial, which was later picked up by ‘Dateline,’ the 20th anniversary of the Heath High School shooting which included an interview with Missy Jenkins, and anchoring hours of wall-to-wall coverage during the Marshall County High School shooting.

Mychaela Bruner joined the Fox 2 team in February of 2019.

Mychaela’s television career began in Paducah, KY where she was the morning anchor and reporter at WPSD Local 6. Mychaela is an award-winning journalist.

She won awards for best solo-journalist, as well as best writing and feature reporting. In 2013, Mychaela had the opportunity to continue her education at the Poynter Institute, learning from some of the best in the business and furthering her knowledge about reporting and anchoring.
