Erik Thorstenson is an American journalist working as a news anchor for Dakota News Now. Erik experienced childhood in Sioux City, Iowa, and moved on from the University of South Dakota. Erik and his wife Amy live in Sioux Falls and are the glad guardians of little girls Kate and Brooke, and sons Luke and Jack.

During school, he got his first taste of broadcasting at WNAX Radio in Yankton. After school, Erik worked three years as a news/sports correspondent at KTIV-TV in Sioux City.
Erik has won a few Associated Press grants including Best Sportscast multiple times. He was the 2006-07 South Dakota High School Coaches Association Sportscaster of the Year. In January of 2020, he moved to Morning Anchor. Erik can be seen on workdays on Dakota News Now from 5 am to 7 am.
