Foo Conner Biography

Foo Conner is an American activist, entrepreneur, and journalist well known for his work on Occupy Wall Street, Randyland, Social journalism, and as a YouTube personality. The name “Foo” was not his birth name, t was a childhood nickname that had stuck with him. His original name was Andrew Conner but he officially changed it to Foo in 2018.

Foo Conner Early Life

Foo was born in Charleston, the most populated, and the capital of West Virginia in the United States. He was raised on a small farm located in Mink Shoals, an unincorporated community along Route 119 in the Kanawha County of the United States. His father was the photojournalist who taught him the art of journalism and photography.

Foo Conner Career

He started his career by producing free punk rock festivals at Skatopia, a skatepark near Rutland in Ohio. His performances were anti-authoritarian and he caught the attention of Rolling Stone. He, sometime later, became a core organizer for Occupy Wall Street, a left-wing protest movement that spoke out against Economic inequality. During weekends, he co-hosts the G3AR – ‘GreekGadgetGuru’ YouTube Channel. In the channel, they build superhero gadgets and test them similar to the Mythbusters.

Over the years, the G3AR channel has garnered over 600,000 subscribers. In addition to that, he is a co-director of Randyland, an art museum that promotes happiness and is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Occupy Wall Street

He helped this movement online in 2011. He was well-known as the core organizer for the movement although the movement lacked a leader. During these times, he helped develop social media strategies and coordinate street protests. Towards the end of the protest, Chris Hedges, an award-winning journalist, told him:

“a real activist would get into the news”

This pushed Foo to introduce Jekko, a news website covering current events and technology news.

Journalism

In addition to all his other roles, he is a prolific journalist covering over 500 events a year. His photography reminds of Bill Cunningham who traveled to events on bicycles taking candid photos. He was nominated for Blogger of the Year at Style Week Pittsburgh in 2016.
