Lorna Luft Biography

Lorna Luft is an American television, stage, and film actress and singer best known for appearing in her mother’s short-lived television program, The Judy Garland Show when she was barely in her teens.

Luft attended University High School in Los Angeles. She later studied theatre at HB Studio in New York City. Her mother was well-known for ‘The Judy Garland Show’ and Lorna’s first tryst with the show business happened with an appearance on the show. She was in awe of all those cameras and lights and decided to walk in her mother’s footsteps as far as a career was concerned.

She was a teen at that time and in 1967, Lorna appeared in her mother’s Broadway show titled ‘At Home at Palace’, where both of them sang duets, hypnotizing the audience. Sadly though, it turned out to be their first and last performance together as Judy died two years later in 1969.

Two years later after her mother’s demise, Lorna made her Broadway debut with ‘Promises, Promises’ in 1971.  This play was adapted from a popular Billy Wilder film of 1960 titled ‘The Apartment’ and was performed at the Shubert Theatre.
