Rissa Shaw Biography

Rissa Shaw is an American journalist working as a reporter for KWTX-TV News. She is originally from San Francisco. She attended Walter Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Communication at Arizona State University.

On a personal note, she loves movies, Texas Country music, horseback riding, going to concerts, chai lattes, brunch, and animals (she has two cats but can’t wait to get a dog, too).

Rissa Shaw KWTX News

Rissa joined the KWTX-TV newsgroup in December of 2016. Despite the fact that she adores her old neighborhood of San Francisco, she’s excited to be out of the downpour and in bright Central Texas! She’s seen Waco experience huge development since she moved there in February of 2015 and is amped up for the course it’s going!

Rissa began her profession as a columnist for KIEM in Eureka, CA. While everything’s ‘greater in Texas,’ all that’s more convoluted in California (only kidding…sort of). While in Eureka, Rissa ran the range, covering stories from the nearby legislative issues encompassing cannabis dispensaries in “the green triangle,” to the state’s spending slices to schooling, to ecological issues incorporating tree-sitting fights in region woodlands.

Rissa finished her time they’re behind the work area as an anchor and Interim News Director. Rissa momentarily left the news business, snatching the opportunity to seek after one she had always wanted: governmental issues. She turned into a political advisor and dealt with the lieutenant gubernatorial mission for then-Mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom.

Her work handled her chances to work with California Governor Jerry Brown, previous President Bill Clinton, and, on various events, President Barack Obama. Did you know, she has Secret Service leeway? She put on political occasions, overseen press, and even drove in the Presidential motorcade; chances that should not be taken lightly she won’t ever neglect or lament. Fun truth: President Clinton loves hummus!

Albeit Presidential governmental issues were an exciting experience, Rissa missed the news. So to be nearer to her closest companion in Austin, she acknowledged a task at KAVU-TV in Victoria, TX. She was the primary, female evening commentator for a very long time, securing the 6 and 10 p.m. reports, and delivering the 6 p.m. broadcast to its most noteworthy appraisals in years.

Rissa cherished being a piece of the local area by facilitating occasions, emceeing pledge drives, addressing grade schools, and that’s just the beginning. She was assigned for Best Local Celebrity by The Victoria Advocate in 2014, 2015, and again in 2016 (despite the fact that she had been living in Waco for a year).

Victoria gave her a brief look at the fantastic state she’d before long come to adore. Proceeding onward to her next Texas town and challenge, Rissa entered the Waco news market…and it stuck! She cherishes Central Texas and discovers something new to cover, another person to meet, a renewed individual to give a voice to consistently, and loves it.

While she’s new(ish) to the Lonestar State, she has family connections to Texas; her extraordinary grandma was from Goliad and gone to Texas Christian University, and her granddad and grandma were hitched in Corpus Christi while he served in the Navy.
