Sam Champion is an American weather anchor. He was born on August 13th, 1961 in Paducah, Kentucky, USA.

His parents are Sylvia and James H. Champion. He has a sister, Teresa. Champion graduated from Fairfax High School in Virginia in 1979. He attended Eastern Kentucky University where he graduated with a B.A in broadcast news.

He went for an internship at WKYT-TV in Lexington, Kentucky. He is very active in charitable organizations in New York City.

Sam worked at WPSD-TV in Paducah, Kentucky, and WJKS (later WCWJ) in Jacksonville, Florida. He turned into a climate forecaster for WABC-TV’s Eyewitness News in New York City in 1988.

It was announced that he would leave AMH to become a contributor to The Weather Channel’s primetime news. This was done in September 2015.

Champion and the station decided not to renew his contract in December 2016 and due to this, he left the station. The final episode of the show aired on December 27th, 2016. He returned to ABC News on February 17th, 2018 as a fill-in weather forecaster on the weekend edition of GMA.
